Barriers such as limited internet access, affordability of devices, lack of digital literacy, and gendered cultural norms restrict opportunities for rural women to participate in—and benefit from—digital transformation. Yet, when equipped with the right tools, training, and platforms, women in rural and semi-urban areas can become powerful drivers of economic growth, sustainability, and social resilience. This panel brings together changemakers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and investors who are working to close the urban-rural digital gap. The discussion will explore practical initiatives—from AI-powered agri-tech tools, fintech platforms for women-owned SMEs, to community-based digital literacy programs—that enable women in rural areas to access opportunities in education, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods. Through honest storytelling and reflection, these trailblazers reveal what really happens between ambition and achievement — how resilience, self-belief, and the courage to keep iterating turn failure into foresight. Attendees will walk away not just inspired, but equipped with real-world insights, tested strategies, and the confidence to take bold steps without repeating the same mistakes.

CLOSING KEYNOTE: RISE, LEAD, REPEAT – WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP IN THE DIGITAL ECONOMY

SYNOPSIS: In industries long shaped by men — from water infrastructure to digital transformation — Pn. Malseni Jamal has built a reputation for turning complexity into clarity and challenges into catalysts for change. As one of Sarawak’s foremost women leaders driving the merger of three major state water entities, her leadership reflects not only operational excellence but also the courage to lead reform, deliver efficiency, and champion inclusivity in sectors often resistant to disruption. In this closing address, Pn. Malseni shares her personal journey of leading large-scale transformation in a male-dominated field — from navigating boardrooms to breaking silos and building systems that serve communities better.
